Payroll Transition & Development Manager

The Symatrix Managed Services teams offer a range of services to our customers:

  • Application support, covering the entire suite of Oracle HRMS products, including HR, Self Service, Learning Management, Recruitment and Payroll on both E-Business Suite and HCM Cloud.
  • Hosting and DBA Services
  • Business Process Outsourcing for HR Administration and Payroll Solutions

The Payroll Transition and Development Manager will:

  • Ensure the system is fit for purpose for both the customer requirements (through UAT and Parallel Runs) and for the BPO team service
  • Set clear expectations and following up on what we say
  • Recognise and respect differing levels of technical knowledge and adjusting our communication style accordingly
  • Maintain customer satisfaction (which will be monitored through customer satisfaction surveys)
  • To ensure continual improvement of service through knowledge and system development


  • Transition of new payroll customers from project kick off through to go live/BAU; Key contact for customers during this phase
  • Management of UAT and Parallel run phases
  • Creation of BPO specific documentation (inc. Service definition, COM and CSOG)
  • Maintenance of BPO test scripts and scenarios
  • Management of Payroll transition & test analysts
  • Management of testing of CRs (including estimates) and bug fixes via cases (CMS/service cloud)
  • Payroll SME for client change initiatives, attending meetings/workshops/requirements gathering
  • Management of testing of major releases, where no TaaS contract in place
  • Review Impact assessments; translate for BPO team
  • Management of CMS developments for BPO work stream
  • Management of training of apprentices and employees with specific system needs
  • BAU cover for payroll team manager and leads
  • Support continuous improvement of working practices through technology and processes
  • Support sales team with new business meetings as a payroll SME
  • Manage solution soundbite content alongside Payroll team manager and leads
  • Key contact/super user for application support team
  • Management of training plans for new starters, with the support of the BPO Payroll team manager
  • To supervise and plan the workload of team members for transition & testing activities
  • Work with cross departmental teams, both internally and with the customer, to deliver exceptional service
  • To work in line with the Symatrix ISMS
  • To undertake any other reasonable duties commensurate with the level of the post to ensure the smooth running of the company
  • To highlight continuous improvements to the HR and Payroll processes to drive continual service improvement, in line with new system functionality

  • Proven experience of UK payroll implementations and testing phases on an Oracle platform (EBS or Cloud)
  • Experience of working for an outsource provider
  • Experience of large payrolls

  • Knowledge of International Payroll legislation
  • CIPP or CIPD qualified
